When I’m not writing, I’m working on checking items off my bucket list. My current list includes:

  1. Write a short story collection; send it to a publishing house
  2. Host a photo exhibit in downtown Fredericksburg; sell 10 prints
  3. Create a photography book and sell 10 copies
  4. Write 3-5 “Maple the Mutt” children books; send it to a publishing house
  5. Write my murder mystery; send it to a publishing house
  6. Write my funny book; send it to a publishing house
  7. Go skydiving once
  8. Read every major religious book once
  9. Read every book on Modern Library’s “Top 100” list
  10. Read the dictionary once
  11. Win a game of chess
  12. Maintain a weight of 210-215 pounds
  13. Get visible abs and prominent traps
  14. Bowl a 200 once
  15. Play Stevie Ray Vaughn’s “Little Wing” on the electric guitar
  16. Learn how to play the blues harmonica
  17. Learn how to surf
  18. Pursue at least one of my inventions
  19. Bench 300 pounds three times in a row
  20. Restore and own a Ford Fairlane 500
  21. Volunteer at a Special Olympics event
  22. Go on an Alaskan cruise
  23. Learn how to cook 20 decent meals
  24. Shoot and make a three-pointer on an NBA court
  25. Learn how to do the Crypt Walk
  26. Learn the basics of car mechanics
  27. Learn the basics of piloting
  28. Drive across country/take photos of old motels for a book
  29. Learn another language and use it in a country
  30. Learn how to sign language
  31. Fall asleep in a meadow in the spring
  32. Own rental property as an investment
  33. Go to Vietnam, Iceland and the Bahamas
  34. Go to the Galapagos Islands and touch a tortoise

  39. Operate a small Cape Cod-style motel when I retire

  44. Catch a fish, cook a fish, eat a fish
